Alexandra Park Regeneration Project

g developments in the Park.  Having had success in June 2010 with our Round One application, Manchester Council is now gearing up to submit a Round Two bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Parks for People programme. This is for £2 million to help restore the Park to its original Victorian glory while ensuring it offers a range of activities fit for a 21st century green space.
Applications have also been made to Sport England and other sports bodies which focus on transforming the sports facilities in the Park. See more in Sport.

When Alexandra Park opened to the public in 1870 it was innovative in its use of oval shaped and curved pathways and the introduction of sporting activity into an ornamental park. Success in the bid will see physical improvements relating to the Park's original design, including footpaths, buildings, planting schemes, tennis courts, sports pitches and changing facilities.
There will also be an exciting range of activities for people to take part in from events to volunteering and training and ultimately we want to involve the local community much more in running the Park. Find out how to get involved.
